Chambers finished with a game-high six total shots and three on-goal with freshman Izabella Henricksen following with three shots in her collegiate debut - all of which were on-goal.
Martin Luther held a slight margin in total shots, 17-15, but couldn't find the back of the net as BVU sophomore Maia Jaroch and freshman Macy Palmer each played one half and combined for 13 saves.
The victory marked BVU's first win over the Knights since 2019 when it won a 1-0 nailbiter. The two team's played to a 1-1 tie in Storm Lake to begin last season after Martin Luther had won three straight in the series.
Buena Vista (1-0) will turn around and host Hesston College (1-1) on Sunday, Aug. 31, in its home opener starting at 10:30 a.m. The Larks play at Faith Baptist Bible College on Saturday.
