Gibbons and Chambers with Goals as Women's Soccer Blanks MLC 2-0

Hailey Chambers scored a goal and dished out one assist during BVU's 2-0 shutout at Martin Luther on Aug. 29, 2025.

NEW ULM, Minn. (Aug. 29, 2025) - The Buena Vista University women's soccer team began its 2025 campaign on Friday afternoon with a 2-0 non-conference road win at Martin Luther College.

The Beavers wasted little time getting on the board as junior Hailey Chambers found senior Bailey Gibbons less than five minute into the game for her third career goal. That's how things would stay until late in the second half when Chambers, the team's top returning goal scorer from last season, added a pivotal insurance goal during the 70th minute.

Senior Bailey Gibbons scored the team's first goal of the season on Friday afternoon (Aug. 29) less than five minutes into the match.

Chambers finished with a game-high six total shots and three on-goal with freshman Izabella Henricksen following with three shots in her collegiate debut - all of which were on-goal.

Martin Luther held a slight margin in total shots, 17-15, but couldn't find the back of the net as BVU sophomore Maia Jaroch and freshman Macy Palmer each played one half and combined for 13 saves.

The victory marked BVU's first win over the Knights since 2019 when it won a 1-0 nailbiter. The two team's played to a 1-1 tie in Storm Lake to begin last season after Martin Luther had won three straight in the series.

Buena Vista (1-0) will turn around and host Hesston College (1-1) on Sunday, Aug. 31, in its home opener starting at 10:30 a.m. The Larks play at Faith Baptist Bible College on Saturday.
