The Beavers shot over 50 percent from the field in the first half, including 5-of-8 from downtown, to help them build a 44-29 lead at the break. Defensively, they held the Pioneers to only 1-of-8 from beyond the arc in the half and just 1-of-14 for the game.
BVU cooled off a bit from the field in the second half, making only nine total field goals and finishing the game shooting 45 percent overall. A free-throw from Walker followed by a three from Krager gave the Beavers their largest lead of the night at 48-29 coming out of the half. Grinnell kept battling and wouldn't go away, clawing its way back to within 48-40 but that was as close as it got.
Buena Vista closed the third quarter strong and took a 15-point advantage to the fourth quarter and maintained the double-digit lead the rest of the way.
Nora Lynch led the Pioneers (1-3) with 11 points as the Pioneers got scoring from nine different players.
The Beavers improve to 3-2 on the year and is off until hosting Carleton College on Tuesday, Nov. 25 at 5 p.m.
