USD Pulls Away from Women's Hoops in Second Half

VERMILLION, S.D. (Nov. 10, 2025) - The Buena Vista women's basketball team was on the road for the first time this season on Monday night, as it played at the University of South Dakota in a game that was played as an exhibition contest for the Beavers. The Coyotes used a big second half to pull away for a 104-54 victory.

BVU kept things close throughout most of the first quarter and were within 15-14 after sophomore Tyme Boettcher made a shot from downtown with 2:01 to play. The Beavers, however, would miss their next four shot attempts down the stretch while the Coyotes made four of their final five and used a 9-0 surge to lead 24-14 heading to the second.

The Coyotes outreboundned BVU 55-26 on the night nd were able to score 33 second chance points. They used that advantage to build a 49-30 halftime lead before burying six of their 12 made treys during a big third quarter where they outscore BVU 33-15 and broke the game wide open.

Boettcher was the only player to score in double figures for Buena Vista and finished tied with a game-high 17 points on 6-of-15 shooting, including 5-of-12 from long distance. Sophomore Bradi Krager and freshman Adriana Howard each followed with nine points while Howard also grabbed a team-leading five boards.

Buena Vista was held to only 28.3 percent shooting from the field overall, buried 8-of-23 from distance and converted 16-of-19 from the charity stripe.

South Dakota (3-0) was 12-of-39 from three-point range and finished the night shooting 46.5 percent overall. Angelina Robles and Elise Turrubiates each scored 17 points to lead four players in double figures. Josie Hill registered a double-double with 14 points and 12 boards.

Buena Vista (1-1) will return to its regular season schedule by heading up north for a pair of non-conference road games over the weekend. The first of those will be at Macalester College on Friday, Nov. 14. Tip-off is at 5:30 p.m.
