Women's Wrestling Lands Top-4 Individual Finish in Season Debut

Indianola, Iowa (Nov. 1, 2025)- The Buena Vista University women’s wrestling team kicked off the season at the Luther Hill Invitational on Saturday inside Blake Fieldhouse. The women’s team wrestled very tough with many coming away with wins, including freshman Alannah Peterson in the 235-weight class, who was able to take home a 4th place finish.

Peterson was able to secure a fall in a backside match in the freshman/sophomore bracket to be able to wrestle for a 3rd place match. Peterson came up short in that match and settled for 4th place. Peterson ended up 1-2 on the day securing her first collegiate wrestling win. 

The other women wrestled very tough throughout the long day. At the 110 freshman/sophomore bracket, sophomore Harley Tobin was able to get a backside pin getting her first win for the season. At 138 in the freshman/sophomore bracket freshman Savannah Freifeld was able to secure her first two collegiate wins in impressive fashion with a 12-2 tech fall and a pin before the end of the day. 

Junior Shania Graybill was also able to get a pin on the day in the 138 open bracket. At the 145-pound freshman/sophomore bracket, freshman Paige Baier was impressive securing a fall and a 14-3 tech fall for her first collegiate victories. Freshman Kinalisa Lokot was able to secure a fall as well for her first colligate win in the 160 freshman/sophomore bracket.

The BVU women’s wrestling team will be back on the mat next Saturday (Nov.8) as they will be competing in the Waldorf University Open in Forest City, Iowa.
