Buena Vista came out with six first half shot attempts but only one was on-goal. The team put more pressure on in the second half with four additional shots. Andres Gonzalez made the most of one of them off an assist from his brother, Alex Gonzalez, as BVU made it a 2-1 game at the 74:56 marks.
The two teams buckled down over the final 15 minutes and the intensity rose up a few more notches, but the Beavers would come up just short.
Cael Thacker turned in a team-high three shots, including two on-goal, to help lead the attack for the Beavers.
Cody Fuller got the start in-goal for BVU and played the entire first half. Zachary Sigler took over after halftime and went the rest of the way, tallying four of the team's five saves.
Buena Vista is now 5-6-1 overall (0-3 A-R-C) and will play host to Luther College (3-2-5, 0-0-2 A-R-C) on Saturday, Oct. 11 at 7:30 p.m.
