Luther Slips Past Men's Soccer 2-0

STORM LAKE, Iowa (Oct. 11, 2025) - The Buena Vista men's soccer team hosted Luther College under the lights on Saturday night in search of its first conference win of the season, but the Norse went on to score a goal in each half to get past the Beavers on Family Weekend, 2-0.

Luther, which held a 10-1 margin in shot attempts throughout the first half, broke the scoreless match late in the half with a goal that was the result of a rebounded shot attempt from a ball of the cross bar early in the 36' that made it 1-0. That's how things stood until late in the second half as both defenses were battling it out the entire way. The Norse turned in the final goal of the night during the 76'.

BVU didn't get many solid looks at the goal but one of its best attempts of the night was just wide of the net off the foot of sophomore Jeremiah Rediske that would have tied it eight minutes into the second half. Senior Caleb Swanson and freshman Andres Gonzalez had the other two shots for the Beavers who tallied three overall.

After taking 10 shots in the first half, the Norse added seven in the second but only nine total came on target.

Junior Zachary Sigler went the distance in goal for BVU and would go on to make seven saves.

Buena Vista is now 5-7-1 overall (0-4 A-R-C) and will be off until hosting Simpson College (3-6-6, 0-3-1 A-R-C) next Saturday at 7:30 p.m.
