Tre Fisher intercepted a pass on the next Luther possession, and the Beaver offense capitalized by turning it into points thanks to a Johnny Messerly touchdown catch from quarterback Zy Gravitt on a fade pass to the far back corner of the endzone that made it 17-7 going to the fourth quarter.
Gravitt completed 19-of-32 pass attempts on the day for 204 yards and the touchdown but was intercepted three times. Messerly had another big day, hauling in a team-leading five catches for 116 yards and the one touchdown. His longest grab of the day went for 32 yards.
Buena Vista finished the day with a season-high 460 yards of total offense while averaging 6.5 yards per play.
Defensively, the Beavers held the Norse in check most of the game, allowing only 206 total yards and also intercepting three passes of their own. BVU held the ball for nearly nine minutes more than Luther.
Wyatt Hatcher led the way with 10 total tackles for Buena Vista and had a pair of pass breakups. Volkmann, who had two of those interceptions, followed with seven stops while junior Brody Boeckman had five tackles, including one for a loss, to go along with a pair of pass breakups. The unit also produced a season-high four sacks on the day all from different players.
Buena Vista improves to 2-3 on the year (1-2 A-R-C) and travels to the University of Dubuque (2-4, 2-2 A-R-C) next Saturday for a game that kicks-off at 2 p.m.
