Dubuque, Iowa (Jan. 25, 2025) – The Buena Vista University women's wrestling team was at the inaugural A-R-C Women's Individual Tournament on Saturday, taking on some tough competition. BVU finished with three individuals named all-conference, including sophomore Magalie Mogiga in the 207 weight class.
 
Mogiga ended up placing third in her bracket, scoring 13 team points for the team's fourth-place finish. She won two matches by fall, ending the day 2-2. All matches on the day for Mogiga were hard-fought and led the way for the rest of the team.
 
Freshmen Harley Tobin and Aroura Preston were able to secure second and third places as well on the day through some hard-fought matches.
 
Sophomore Shania Graybill & freshman Danyia Werner both placed fifth place on the day. Shania had a very tough match right away in the day coming down to the end of the match but unfortunately came up short.
 
Freshmen Stephanie Sorsby & Evelyn Kramer also secured sixth place during the tough invitational. Sorsby had a couple of tough matches throughout the day and was able to come up with a forfeit. Throughout the duration of the day, the women all fought hard and ultimately came up short in certain positions. The team is excited to get back to work at practice on Monday.
 
Buena Vista will be back in action next Sunday (Feb. 2) as they will be wrestling at home in a quadrangular. The teams competing against the Beavers will be Augsburg, Dubuque, and Iowa Lakes CC. First round action is set for 1 p.m.
