Pella,  Iowa (Jan. 25, 2025) – The Buena Vista University men's wrestling team was on the road as it took on three tough opponents on Saturday at the A-R-C Duals, going up against #18 Central, #2 Wartburg, and Dubuque. The team, despite having four open weights on the day, competed tough, but ultimately came up short in each dual.
 
Central-
The Beavers came up short in some tough matches versus the Dutch. Junior Tyler Japp lost a heartbreaker of a match at 125 right at the end with a small decision of 8-6. Also, freshman Jesus Olivares lost a tough match at 125 in an extra match in a decision of 11-6. The dual came to a score of 56-0 in favor of the Dutch.
RESULTS
 
Wartburg-
It was another tough match-up in the second round as the Beavers faced the second-ranked Knights. The plus side of the dual was when Olivares beat the Knights in a 125-pound extra match. The last-second takedown was nothing more than thrilling as the whole bench yelled "THREE," signaling the takedown and excitement by his teammates, as he secure a 5-4 decision. The dual ended with an end score of 56-0 in favor of the Knights.
RESULTS
 
Dubuque-
The Beavers' last tough matchup of the day was nothing but hard-fought. Whether it was the wrestlers out on the mat, the coaches coaching, and the teammates & fans supporting, it was gritty from start to finish. Japp and senior Nolan Nguyen had some very hard-fought matches that both ended in major decisions. The two matches at 125 & 133 were gritty, and both guys on both teams really wanted the win, but unfortunately, our Beavers came up short in a tough matchup, losing 53-0 to the Spartans.
RESULTS
 
The Beavers will be in action on February 5 in a dual at Nebraska Wesleyan University. The dual should be nothing but hard-fought and thrilling.
