Women's Soccer Falls to No. 20 Loras in A-R-C Opener

STORM LAKE, Iowa (Sept. 28, 2024) - The Buena Vista University women's soccer team hosted No. 20 Loras College on Saturday evening inside of J. Leslie Rollins Stadium to begin American Rivers Conference play, but the Duhawks remained perfect on the year (9-0, 1-0 A-R-C) with a 7-0 victory.

The Duhawks entered the match having outscored their opponents 17-0 over their first eight matches, and they continued that dominance against the Beavers. Loras scored three times in the first five minutes of the contest and never looked back. After the quick start, it added a goal midway through the opening half and another inside the final 90 seconds en route to a 5-0 halftime lead.

BVU was unable to get much possession of its own in the contest as the Duhawks finished with 52 total shots, including 33 in the first half alone. Loras added to its lead in the second half with a goal five minutes into play before ending with its final tally five minutes later.

The Beavers were held without a shot in the match. Senior Trisha Westphal went the distance in-goal and did chalk up a season-high 16 saves.

Buena Vista is now 5-4-1 on the year (0-1 A-R-C) and will step out of conference play on Thursday, Oct. 3, to host Faith Baptist Bible College at 4 p.m.
