LINCOLN, Neb. (Sept. 25, 2024) - The Buena Vista University women's soccer team went on the road Wednesday evening to play at Nebraska Wesleyan in a match that was played as a non-conference match-up, but the Beavers came up on the short end of a 1-0 decision.
NWU (5-5-0) put the pressure on the BVU defense throughout the opening half, but keeper
Trisha Westphal came up with multiple key saves while the defense in general was able to keep the score tied at 0-0 heading into halftime.
Despite being outshot, 31-0 overall in the match, the Beavers didn't allow a goal until the Prairie Wolves broke through during the 69' for the lone goal of the contest.
Westphal went the distance in-goal and tallied 12 saves, including eight over the final 45 minutes of play.Â
Buena Vista is now 5-3-1 on the year and will begin American Rivers Conference play on Saturday, Sept. 28, when it hosts No. 20 Loras College at 5 p.m.
