BVU misfired on a pair of shot attempts over the final 45 minutes and were held without a shot-on goal in the half. Senior Chloe Lippert had two of the team's five shots in the contest, including one on goal. Hailey Chambers added the second shot-on-goal while Mia Norton and Avery Bryant tallied the team's final two shots overall.
Westphal went the distance in-goal and hung tough all match long. She finished with five saves and faced 19 shots overall.
BVU honored 10 seniors during a halftime ceremony as part of its Senior Day festivities. The group included Westphal, Lippert, Norton, Kaycie King, Jaylin Woodward, Madisen Betcher, Madyline Taylor, Morgan Malli, Brooklyn Bergum and Maddy Bigalke.
Buena Vista is now 5-2-1 overall and travels to Nebraska Wesleyan for what will be a non-conference match on Wednesday, Sept. 25 at 6 p.m. It begins A-R-C play on Saturday, Sept. 28, at home versus Loras College at 5 p.m.
