Men's Soccer Wins 2-0 on Senior Night over UW-Stout

STORM LAKE, Iowa (Sept. 21, 2024) - The Buena Vista University men's soccer team continued its home schedule on Saturday night by hosting the University of Wisconsin-Stout inside of J. Leslie Rollins Stadium, and the Beavers enjoyed a victorious Senior Night by topping the Blue Devils, 2-0.

Jacob Kirchner and Kade Stover each scored their first goals of the season to aid BVU during the win. Kirchner found the back of the net first when he took a pass from Caleb Swanson during the 33' and give the Beavers a 1-0 lead at the half.

After the large group of seniors were honored at halftime, it was Stover taking a nice lead pass from Kendall Bickford on the right side of the box and knocking it past a pulled out goalkeeper to make it 2-0 early in the 66'.

The BVU  defense kept the pressure on the Blue Devils throughout the match and holding them to only two shots over the final half of play. The Beavers had just nine shots overall with six of them coming over the first 45 minutes. Freshman Ben Jackson had a team-high three shots in total with one coming on-goal. Senior Jacob Adams added two shots.

Fifth-year senior Isaiah Adams got his first start of the year in-goal for BVU and played the first 52:50 before turning things over to junior Cody Fuller for the final 37:10. The duo combined to make a pair of saves and preserve the team's second shutout of the year.

Buena Vista improves to 6-2 overall this season and will travel to Crown College for a non-conference contest on Thursday, Sept. 26, at 6 p.m.
