Women's Soccer Routs Maranatha Baptist 11-0

WATERTOWN, Wis. (Sept. 12, 2024) - The Buena Vista University women's soccer team had its first road test of the season on Thursday afternoon, but the Beavers rolled past Maranatha Baptist 11-0.

Senior Chloe Lippert tied a school record with four goals scored in the match, and her eight total points also tied a single-match record. Kellyn Arnold was the last player to do so versus Northland in 2011 while Lindsey Rague did so against Waldorf in 2005.

The 11 goals scored for BVU is the highest single-match total for the team since it defeated Iowa Wesleyan, 17-0, back in 2016.

The scoring started early on for BVU with Bailey Gibbons notching her first goal of the year less than six minutes into play. A minute later, Lippert scored the first of her four to make it 2-0. Gibbons followed up with her second goal of the match 10 minutes later as Kaycie King added her second which gave the Beavers a 4-0 halftime cushion.

Lippert turned in a hat trick in the second half by scoring three straight times over the first nine minutes. The first two came on assists from Emma Haley with the third off a feed from Gibbons. Brooklyn Bergum jumped into the scoring parade with her first career goal. Mia Norton, Maddy Bigalke and Hailey Chambers all scored a goal within a six-minute span starting at the 73'. Bigalke's was the first of her career while Norton and Chambers each turned in their third of the year.

BVU had 12 shots in the first and added 15 in the second to post a 27-6 margin overall. Lippert, who played 44 minutes on the day, led the way with nine shots with Gibbons right behind at six. Gibbons finished the day with a pair of goals and three assists. Her seven total points are second-most in program history.

Maia Jaroch improved to 2-0-1 on the year while going the distance in-goal. She posted five saves overall.
