Women's Soccer begins Season with 1-1 Tie against Martin Luther

STORM LAKE, Iowa (Aug. 30, 2024) - Buena Vista University senior Mia Norton scored her first career goal during Friday night's season opener at home versus Martin Luther, but the Knights were able to push across a goal midway through the second half, as the match ended in a 1-1 tie.

Norton's goal came with 15 minutes left in the opening half after the two team's came out of the mandated water break. It was one of 14 total shots for the Beavers in the contest while they held the Knights to only six.

Senior Chloe Lippert led all players in the game with five total shots, including one that came on goal. She nearly gave BVU the lead late but had an attempt hit off the cross bar. Haley Chambers and Kaycie King each added two shots and one on-goal.

Trisha Westphal and Maia Jaroch split the minutes in-goal for the Beavers and each tallied one save. The duo combined to face only three shots on-goal the entire match.

Buena Vista is 0-0-1 on the year and remains home on Sunday, Sept. 1, to host Monmouth College in a 3:30 p.m. kickoff.
