HILTON HEAD, S.C. (Mar. 6, 2024) - The Buena Vista women's tennis team continued its spring trip this afternoon against St. Vincent College, but the Beavers came up just short in a thrilling 7-2 match.
St. Vincent started strong by taking all three doubles matches by identical 8-2 margins.
Singles play, however, wound up being much tighter. Senior Rachel Brockney put BVU on the board with a 6-4, 6-0 triumph at No. 2, but the Beavers then came up on the short end of three-set tiebreakers in each of the final four matches, including a wild 12-10 tiebreaker dropped by Lily Gust in her No. 5 singles match. BVU lost two of the other matches with 10-7 setbacks in the tiebreaker.
Buena Vista is now 2-14 overall and wraps up the trip on Friday against Clark University.
