STORM LAKE, Iowa (Feb. 3, 2024) - The Buena Vista men's basketball team hosted the University of Dubuque on Saturday for Alumni Day, but the Beavers couldn't overcome 15 made three-point baskets by the Spartans en route to a tough 99-73 home loss.
Dylan Anderson finished 6-of-11 from downtown for Dubuque and led six players in double figures with a game-high 25 points. Three other players made two long range buckets as the team shot a scorching 15-of-27 (55-.6 percent), including 10 makes alone in the second half.
Trailing by 13 at the break, Buena Vista managed to claw its way back as close as nine following a three-point bucket from senior Zane Neubaum that made it 57-48 just over three minutes into the second half. Dubuque quickly pushed the margin back into double digits and remained in front by 14 midway through. Anderson, along with Sam Kilburg, connected for three-point buckets to make it a 20-point lead with 8:30 to play and the Beavers never got any closer down the stretch.
