The top-four batters in the Beaver line-up went a combined 10-for-18 in the contest with three doubles, one triple and eight RBI. Junior Joel Garcia led the way by going 4-for-4, including a double, three RBI and three runs scored. Fellow junior Drew Taylor was 2-for-5 with a double, pair of RBI and also scored three times.
Buena Vista finished the contest with 14 hits in the game, including four for extra-bases. Bethel, meanwhile, had seven base knocks but only one that went for extra-bases.
Fifth-year Mason Gehling improved to 2-0 on the season after pitching six strong innings, allowing an unearned run and five hits while walking two and striking out three.
The Beavers are now 5-1 overall and will head down to Auburndale, Fla, where they are scheduled to play seven games from Mar. 2-9. The first of those contest is on Mar. 2 against Grove City College starting at 10:30 a.m. (EST).
