WAVERLY, Iowa (Feb. 10, 2024) - Freshman Carter Sievers turned in a game-high 21 points while sophomore Jackson Jones added a career-high 17 points, and the duo led four players in double figures for the Buena Vista men's basketball team on Saturday as the Beavers completed a season-sweep of Wartburg College with an 81-72 victory inside of Levick Arena.
Sievers was 5-of-8 shooting from the field, but came through down the stretch from the free-throw line where he went 9-of-13 overall (both were career-highs). Jones, meanwhile, went 6-of-10 from the field and made 4-of-5 from the charity stripe. The duo also went 3-of-5 from downtown where BVU finished 7-of-26 overall (26.9 percent).
Senior Zane Neubaum chipped in with 16 points, four rebounds and two steals while freshman Keaton Flaherty made a pair of three's and added 10 points off the bench.
The Beavers did alot of damage at the free-throw line by finishing 26-of-32. The 26 makes were a new season-high while the 32 attempts were second behind the 36 the team had in its season-opener.
