Eman Alaniz Named Second Team All-Conference; Beisswenger and Reynolds Earn H.M.

STORM LAKE, Iowa (Nov. 22, 2024) - The American Rivers Conference announced its 2024 Football All-Conference Team and Buena Vista University had senior running back Eman Alaniz voted to the Second Team. BVU also had a pair of honorable mention selections.

Alaniz is an all-conference performer for the second straight season after being named to the First Team as a junior in 2023. Juniors Matthew Beisswenger and Troy Reynolds are both recognized for the first time by being tabbed Honorable Mention.

This season, Alaniz was BVU's leading rusher and ranked fifth during conference play in the A-R-C with 59.5 yards per game and six touchdowns. In eight conference games, he had a pair of 100+ rushing performances, including 119 yards and three scores during a win at Luther College. He also had 115 yards and one touchdown in the conference opening win at Loras College. He averaged just over 106.0 all-purpose yards per game on the year. Last season, he ranked in the top-10 of Division III with over 160.0ypg.

Beisswenger was voted as a defensive back with Reynolds at linebacker.

During conference play, Reynolds led the conference in tackles per contest at 11.9, tying for the league-lead with 40 solo tackles and also added a pair of sacks. His best performance of the year came at home versus Coe College when he chalked up 18 total tackles with one sack. That came a week after his 14-tackle game at nationally-ranked and conference champion, Wartburg College.

Beisswenger ranked fourth in the conference in passes defended at just over 1.1 per game. In his eight conference games, he had seven passes break-ups and a pair of interceptions to go along with 24 total tackles. He had six total tackles and three pass breakups against the Kohawks and also had three pass breakups against Nebraska Wesleyan.

Coe College's Trenton Barnes was named the A-R-C Offensive Most Valuable Player, Wartburg College's Parker Rochford the Defensive Most Valuable Player and Simpson College's Noah Cracraft the Rookie of the Year. Wartburg College landed the Coaching Staff of the Year.
