DECORAH, Iowa (Oct. 5, 2024) - The Buena Vista University men's soccer team jumped back into American Rivers Conference play at Luther College on Saturday afternoon, but the Beavers were shutout by the Norse, 9-0.

BVU was unable to get much going offensively in the match while being held to only one shot attempt overall. The Norse, meanwhile, registered 13 shots in each half and jumped out to a 6-0 halftime lead. They broke into the score column less than two minutes into play and built a 3-0 advantage with under 12 minutes gone by. The first two second half goals came just over one minute apart before the final tally was in the last 90 seconds.

Luther finished with 17 shots-on-goal and was led by Javier Pastor Valls who had three goals and one assist.

Cody Fuller got the start in-goal for the Beavers and played the first half, allowing six goals and posting three saves. Zachary Sigler went the final 45 minutes and surrendered three goals and made six saves.

Buena Vista is now 8-4 overall (0-2 A-R-C) and will look to bounce back when the team returns home on Wednesday, Oct. 9, to host Central College at 7:30 p.m.
