DECORAH, Iowa (Oct. 5, 2024) - The Buena Vista University women's soccer team went on the road to Luther College on Saturday afternoon to play its first American Rivers Conference away from home, but the Norse held off the Beavers, 4-1.
The Norse got on the board first 15 minutes into play, and then doubled the advantage with an own goal two minutes later. The final first half score came during the 38' as Luther led 3-0 at the break. The Norse finished the opening half with 13 total shot attempts while BVU was held without one.
BVU cut into its deficit early in the second half as
Hailey Chambers chalked up her fifth goal this season nearly nine minutes into the period. The team, however, was limited to only two additional shot attempts over the final 45 minutes and was unable to make much more of a charge. The Norse (1-5-5, 1-0-1 A-R-C) tacked on the final goal during the 60'.
Chloe Lippert had the other two shot attempts for the Beavers, as well as the other shot-on-goal.
Trisha Westphal went the distance in-goal, and despite allowing four goals, did record 12 saves.
Buena Vista is now 6-5-1 overall (0-2 A-R-C) and will host Central College on Wednesday, Oct. 9, at 5 p.m.
