Lippert Scores Twice during 3-1 Win over Faith Baptist

Buena Vista senior Chloe Lippert gains position with the ball during the team's 3-1 over Faith Baptist on Oct. 3.

STORM LAKE, Iowa (Oct. 3, 2024) - The Buena Vista University women's soccer was back in action on Thursday afternoon hosting Faith Baptist Bible College, and the Beavers would snap their current three-match overall losing streak with a 3-1 non-conference victory over the Eagles.

Senior Chloe Lippert chalked up another multi-goal performance for BVU with two goals and moved past Kellyn Arnold (2010) and into fifth place on the program's single-season list with 11 goals this season. In addition, she's now fifth-place all-time on the program's career chart with 17.

Fellow senior Kaycie King directed a ball from midfield up the near sideline which was run down by Hailey Chambers. The keeper for Faith Baptist had come way out thinking she may have a play on the ball, and when she realized she didn't, it was too late as Chambers lined a cross pass at the middle of the box which landed at the feet of Lippert who proceeded to knock it through for a 1-0 lead less than 11 minutes into play.

Nearly two minutes later, the Eagles got the benefit of a foul called on the Beavers near the upper left side, and just outside the box. The free kick was sent on a direct line to the goal and just past a diving Trisha Westphal to even the score at 1-1.

The scoring didn't stop there, as the Beavers, who were going into the wind throughout the first half, capitalized on a shot attempt by Chambers that made it 2-1 late in the 16', and that's how things stood until near the midway point of the second half when Lippert took a pass from King and registered the final score of the contest.

BVU held a 22-4 advantage over the Eagles in total shots with 15 coming on-goal. Lippert finished the day with nine total attempts and eight on-goal. Chambers was next at four attempts with her goal the only one on target. King was one of two players to chip in with two shot attempts. Her two assists give her four on the year and six in her career.

Westphal finished the match by going the distance and posting two saves.

Buena Vista improves to 6-4-1 overall and will return to American Rivers Conference action on Saturday afternoon at Luther College. Kickoff against the Norse is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
