Beavers Score a Pair of Second Half Goals during 2-0 Win over Faith Baptist

STORM LAKE, Iowa (Oct. 3, 2024) - It took until midway through the second half to break a scoreless match, but the Buena Vista University men's soccer team would score twice in just over a minute of play, and that was all the team needed during a 2-0 non-conference home win over Faith Baptist Bible College on Thursday night.

BVU was on the offense the majority of the contest with nine shots in the first half and 14 more in the second while not allowing a single shot attempt by the Eagles.

Junior Kendall Bickford gained control of the ball in the middle of the field at the 15-yard line after lead in pass from Jacob Adams. After a short dribble, he reared back and fired a cross shot off the left foot that blasted through to the upper right corner of the goal during the 62' to give BVU a 1-0 lead.

A little more than a  minute later, it was freshman Jeremiah Rediske chasing down a ball just to the right of the goal and putting a nice touch pass directly back to Caleb Swanson in front of the net which he finished off for a 2-0 cushion.

Rediske finished as the team leader with five total shots and three on-target while Swanson and freshman Ben Jackson each had four. The Beavers tallied 10 shots-on-goal overall.

Cody Fuller made the start in-goal and played nearly 79 minutes before turning things over to Zachary Sigler who finished things off. Neither player faced a single shot attempt by Faith Baptist in the contest.

Buena Vista improves to 8-3 on the season and is off to its best start during its first 11 games in program history. The eight wins on the year are tied for third-most all-time. The Beavers now return to American Rivers Conference action on Saturday, Oct. 5, at Luther College. Kickoff against the Norse is set for 1 p.m.
