Women's Soccer Conclude Season with 4-0 Home Loss to Wartburg

STORM LAKE, Iowa (Oct. 29, 2024) - The Buena Vista University women's soccer team hosted Wartburg College on the final day of the season on Tuesday night, but the Knights would spoil the season finale for the Beavers with a 4-0 shutout.

Lauren Kirkle fed Maddy Badding with a nice pass near the top of the box for Wartburg which led to the first goal of the contest less than six minutes into action. The Knights held a 19-2 advantage in total shots throughout the opening half and later doubled the score at 2-0 late in the 31'.

That's how things stood until midway through the second half when Wartburg began to pull away. The Knights made it 3-0 late in the 53' minute before closing out the scoring early in the 66'. Both teams cleared the benches over the final minutes of the contest.

Postgame, BVU women's soccer vs. Wartburg

Wartburg (9-6-3, 5-2-1 A-R-C) finished the contest with 31 total shots while the Beavers tallied four. Sami Webster, who scored the third goal for the Knights led all players in the match with nine total shots, including six on-target.

Hailey Chambers turned in two of BVU's four shots with one of those coming on-target. Trisha Westphal, one of a large group of seniors playing their final career match for the Beavers, went the distance in-goal and finished with 10 saves.

Buena Vista concludes its season at 7-10-1 overall (1-7 A-R-C).
