Women's Soccer Edged 1-0 by Neb. Wesleyan

STORM LAKE, Iowa (Oct. 23, 2024) - The Buena Vista University women's soccer faced off against Nebraska Wesleyan on Wednesday night for the second time this season, but it was the Prairie Wolves again holding off the Beavers in what was a 1-0 thriller.

The Prairie Wolves had only seven shots in the first half, but were able to find the back of the net following a throw-in just over eight minutes into the match.

Both defenses were strong throughout with neither side getting many good looks around the box. The Beavers had their best opportunity when a pass came back across the box with NWU's keeper getting sucked out, but Mia Norton's attempt toward the open net went just high.

The Prairie Wolves finished with seven shots in both halves. In the earlier meeting, NWU finished with over 30 total attempts. Norton led BVU with two shot attempts while Hailey Chambers and Kaycie King each added one.

Trisha Westphal was tough in front of the net, defensively, for the Beavers posting four saves while going the distance.

Buena Vista is now 7-8-1 overall (1-5-0 A-R-C) and travels to the University of Dubuque on Saturday, Oct. 26, for its final road trip of the year. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
