INDIANOLA, Iowa (Oct. 12, 2024) - The Buena Vista University women's soccer team faced a stiff road test on Saturday at regionally-ranked Simpson College, and the Beavers would go on to suffer a tough 9-0 loss to the Storm.
Simpson, which had outscored its opponents 35-10 entering the match, scored four times in the first half and added five more in the second. Despite facing numerous shots early on, the Beavers were able to keep the Storm off the scoreboard until midway through the opening period when they posted two goals over a three-minute span before adding two more over a minute apart in the final 10 minutes.
BVU had three of its four shots in the match come in the second half but were never able to put any pressure on the Simpson defense.
Chloe Lippert had two of the shots with
Hailey Chambers registering the lone shot-on-goal.
The Storm finished with 62 total shots in the match with 38 coming on-goal.
Trisha Westphal finished with 26 saves for the Beavers, who fall below .500 for the first time this season at 6-7-1 (0-4 A-R-C). Simpson remains unbeaten at 9-0-3 (3-0-0 A-R-C).
Buena Vista plays next at Coe College (3-8-2, 0-2-1 A-R-C) on Tuesday, Oct. 15, at 5 p.m.
