STORM LAKE, Iowa (Jan. 17, 2024) - The Buena Vista University women's wrestling team hosted Morningside University on Wednesday night for its long-awaited first-ever home dual, but the Beavers would come up on the short end of a thrilling 25-20 match-up against the Mustangs.

Each team traded forfeits in the opening half of the dual before the first match was wrestled at 136 pounds. The Mustangs picked up a fall to go in front 15-10 before BVU's Rylee Rodish tied things back up at 15-15 after picking up pin of her own in 1:57. 

The Mustangs went back in front after their second fall of the night but BVU again tied the dual at 20-20 with a forfeit at 170. Things came down to the final match of the night, and the freshman Magalie Mogiga jumped out in front 4-2 but would eventually lose ball fall in the final 25 seconds of the first period as Morningside claimed the five-point victory.

Buena Vista is now 0-3 in duals this season and will return to action on Saturday, Jan. 20, by taking part in the American Rivers Conference duals. BVU's pod this year is hosted by Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa. Action is set to begin at 10 a.m.
