ST. PAUL, Minn. (Sept. 4, 2023) - The Buena Vista men's soccer team took twice as many shots than North Central (Minn.), including four more on-goal, but it was the Rams who were able to squeak out a narrow 2-0 victory on Tuesday afternoon.
Buena Vista took 25 total shots, including 10 on-goal, marking its highest single-match totals since recording 10 shots on-goal against Coe in 2019 and 25 total shots to begin that same season against Martin Luther.
Sophomore
Kendall Bickford tallied a team-leading six shots, including two on-goal while
Sota Usui and
Eduardo Garcia each followed with four shots and two on-goal. A total of nine different players took at least one shot for the Beavers.
North Central made the most of its six shots on-goal by finding the back of the net on two of them. The Rams broke the scoreless match midway through the first half before doubling the score during the 71'.
Isaiah Thomas went the distance and was tough in-goal for BVU, recording four saves but suffering the tough loss.
Buena Vista (0-2) will look to build on the offensive attack when it returns to action on Thursday, Sept. 7, for a non-conference road match at the University of Northwestern (Minn.). Match time is set for 5 p.m.
