Women's Soccer Falls at Hamline 8-0 in First Road Contest of the Year

ST. PAUL, Minn. (Sept. 3, 2023) - The Buena Vista University women's soccer team played its first road contest of the 2023 season on Sunday morning, but the Beavers were handed a tough 8-0 setback at Hamline University.

The Pipers jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead less than 10 minutes into the match and would score three more times over the next eight minutes to go in front, 5-0. They would tack on three more first-half goals for an 8-0 advantage, and the scoring ended there. BVU was credited with just one shot attempt in the contest while Hamline finished with 29.

Madeyln Bigalke got the start in-goal for the blue and gold and was charged with allowing five goals and recording a pair of saves over the first 24 minutes before giving way to Trisha Westhphal, who went the rest of the way, allowing three goals and chalking up five saves while facing 20 total shots.

Seven different players scored goals for the Pipers (1-1), including Adela Ashby, who turned in two.

Buena Vista is now 0-2 on the year and is right back in action on Tuesday, Sept. 5, for a road match at North Central University starting at 7 p.m.
