WATERTOWN, Wis. (Sept. 14, 2023) - Junior Chloe Lippert recorded her first career hat trick on Thursday night while Madyline Taylor added two more goals to lead Buena Vista past Maranatha Baptist University, 6-0.
Alexis Kuehl got things rolling right out of the gate for BVU, finding the goal off an assist from Bailey Gibbons just more than five minutes into the contest. Five minutes later it was Taylor finding Lippert for the first of her three goals before Lippert then took a feed from Kaycie King during the 14th minute to make it 3-0. Taylor then gave the Beavers a 4-0 lead just a minute after Lippert's second goal, and that's how things stood at the half.
Less than a minute into the second half, it was Taylor again, scoring her second goal of the contest and the fifth of her career to make it a 5-0 margin. Lippert then capped off the program's first hat trick since 2016 with a goal during the 55th minute on an assist from Hailey Chambers.
Taylor led the charge with five shots (three on-goal), while Lippert scored on all three of her shot attempts. King also chimed in with three shots as BVU finished with 17 total on the day.
The six goals scored by BVU was its largest single-match output since rolling to a 17-0 victory over Iowa Wesleyan back on September 17, 2016.
Trisha Westphal earned the win in-goal for the Beavers, going the distance and only facing four shot attempts while making two saves.
Buena Vista improves to 2-3 on the year and travels to Ripon College for a non-conference match on Saturday, Sept. 16 at 11 a.m.
