Beavers Sweep Non-Conference Match at Martin Luther

NEW ULM, Minn. (Sept. 12, 2023) - The Buena Vista volleyball team continued its non-conference schedule on Tuesday night at Martin Luther and came away with a hard-fought 3-0 sweep of the Knights.

The Knights had 15 kills in the opening set compared to only nine from BVU, but the Beavers were able to take advantage of nine serving errors and seven attack errors to escape the frame with a 27-25 victory. Martin Luther built an early 9-3 lead in the second set before a 7-1 surge from BVU made it 10-10. It was back-and-forth from there with neither team able to build more than a two-point cushion until a kill from Molly McCauley and a ball-handling error from the Knights gave the Beavers a 23-20 advantage, and they would go on to score the final four points to win 25-20.

BVU fell behind 4-0 early in the third but again responded with a run to pull even at 5-5. It was back-and-forth again through the middle of the match with nine more ties. McCauley put the Beavers ahead for good at 21-20 with consecutive ball handling errors from the Knights to end the match as BVU took the set 25-20.
