ROCK ISLAND, Ill. (May 18, 2023) - The Buena Vista University women's outdoor track & field team sent a handful of select individuals to take part in the Augustana College Midwest Twilight Meet on Friday and came away with a trio of top-10 place finishes.
Anna Friedrichsen helped lead the way with a fifth place finish in the hammer throw with a new personal best heave of 50.44m (165-06) which went past her previous best of 49.94m set last weekend at the A-R-C Outdoor Championships.
Courtney Johnson came in sixth in the javelin throw with a toss of 115-7 while
Mary Yanga placed eighth in the high jump at 5-0.5.
Senior
Katara Jondle was 19th in the 200m dash in a time of 25.82 while finishing 11th in the 400m dash in 59.32. Both times were just under her fastest marks of the year.
Kylie Johnston took part in her final collegiate race, placing 28th overall in a tightly-contest 100m dash with a time of 13.14. Only one full second separated 3rd place from 28th. She would also compete in the 200m dash and crossed in 26.68 to take 35th.
Emily Hoesing ran in the 5,000m run for the Beavers and clocked a time of 19:36.93.
Next up will be the NCAA Outdoor Championships on May 25-27 out in Rochester, N.Y.
Becca Simpson is currently ranked in the top-10 of DIII in the shot put, hammer throw and javelin.
