Men's Basketball at home against Dubuque and Coe

Storm Lake, Iowa (February 1, 2023) The Buena Vista men's basketball team returns home this week to the Siebens Fieldhouse for a mid-week matchup against the University of Dubuque and a weekend matchup against Coe College.

About Buena Vista 

The Beavers, who last weekend lost a heartbreaker at Luther in the final seconds of the game, look to get a pair of wins this week inside the Siebens Fieldhouse - first on Wednesday against the Spartans of Dubuque and then on Saturday against the Kohawks of Coe. The Beavers offensively come into the matchups averaging 63.8 points per game in conference play which sets them at second to last in scoring in the league. The offensive attack for the team is led by junior Zane Neubaum, who on the season is averaging 18.7 points per game. From behind the arc, junior Ryan Mendoza is shooting 33.3 % on the season. Defensively in conference play, the Beavers are giving up 73.8 points per game. Junior Gunner Reed is averaging 6.2 rebounds per game on the season. Neubaum is averaging 1.2 steals per game.

Leading their offensive attack is sophomore Jaylin McCants, who is averaging 16.9 points per game on the season. Junior Sam Kilburg is averaging 4.5 assists per game on the year. Defensively, the team is only giving up 68.5 points per game in conference play which ranks top-three in the A-R-C. McCants is averaging 6.6 rebounds per game on the season. Leading the offensive attack is junior Cael Schmitt who is averaging 19.1 points per game on the season. Helping on the offensive end is senior Greg Hall who is shooting 33.3% from behind the arc on the season. Defensively, the Kohawks are giving up 74.7 points per game in conference play. Senior TJ Schnurr is averaging 6.7 rebounds per game. Schmitt is also having an impact on the defensive end as he is averaging 1.5 steals per game on the season.
