STORM LAKE, Iowa (Dec. 2, 2023) - The Buena Vista women's wrestling team got to compete in front of its home fans on Saturday during the annual BVU Open which took place inside of the Lamberti Recreation Center on the BVU campus.

Freshman Elizabeth Tapia-Bañuelos was crowned champion at 123 pounds after picking up a pair of falls over Cornell College's Isabella Moore. Freshman Shania Graybill and junior Daisy Olais each captured third-place finishes. Olais won three of her five matches on the day and generated a team-best 15 points. She had three falls on the day, including two in the first period. Graybill also won three times, recording a pin, technical fall and thrilling 2-0 decision.

Delanie Bushong and Magalie Mogiga were the final two Beavers to compete on the day with Bushong taking fourth and Mogiga fifth.

Buena Vista remains at home next Thursday, Dec. 7 for its first-ever home dual when it hosts Morningside College inside of Siebens Fieldouse at 7 p.m.
