MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. (Nov. 28, 2023) - The Buena Vista University women's wrestling team competed in the program's first-ever dual meet on Tuesday as it traveled to No. 17 Augsburg University, but the Beavers came up short, 29-10, against the Auggies.
Trailing 10-0, Elizabeth Tapia Banuelos picked up her second win of the season as she recorded a pin in 1:05 at 130 pounds to put BVU on the board and make it 10-5. Freshman
Shania Graybill tied things up at 10-10 with a quick fall in 58 seconds at 136 pounds. The victory was her second of the year.
The Auggies then went on to win the final four matches to close out the dual.
Augsburg is now 1-0 on the year while Buena Vista sits at 0-1.Â
The Beavers will return to action on Saturday, Dec. 2, when they compete on their home mat by taking part in the annual BVU Open. Action inside of the Lamberti Rec Center gets underway at 9 a.m.
