SCOUTING THE PRAIRIE WOLVES

SCHEDULE | ROSTER | STATS

The Prairie Wolves began the year at 4-1 overall but have since dropped four straight games. It has, however, been faced with a stiff schedule over the last two weeks, playing both Central and Wartburg, respectively, where it's been outscored 117-0. Those two outings followed a double-overtime loss against Loras where NWU had chalked up a season-high 343 passing yards. The team is looking for its first three-win conference season since 2016 - its first year as members of the A-R-C.

For the year, the Prairie Wolves are averaging 307 yards per game of total offense with the majority of that coming through the air. Senior quarterback, Terry Carter, is averaging 191 yards passing per contest and completing just under 60 percent of his attempts. He has thrown for 1,343 and 10 touchdowns but has been hindered by 16 interceptions. He's also rushed for two scores. On the ground, the team ranks seventh in the A-R-C by averaging 85.6 yards per game. Sophomore running back Nathan Ahtouris has helped lead that charge with a 48.6 yard per game average and five touchdowns. ABOUT BUENA VISTA

The Beavers look to close out their season on a high note while also looking to send the senior class out with a win. The team is coming off a hard fought 56-22 game against Central last week where it trailed the Dutch by only 14 midway through the fourth quarter.

The team is averaging over 212 yards passing over the last two weeks after chalking up over 200 just twice in its first seven games. It will look to get the running game going as well after being held under 100 net yards for the third straight game and for the seventh time this season. Eman Alaniz continues to lead the team in both rushing yards (34.2) and receiving yards (66.3) per game. He has the team's only 100-yard rushing performance this season (vs. Luther), but he's been held to only 64 net rushing yards over the last three games combined. He has done most of his damage as of late on the receiving end with back-to-back 100-yard performances and four combined touchdowns. Senior Keaton Huebner is second on the team with 67 rushes for 152 yards and two scores.

Junior quarterback Zach Herrera has passed for 1,110 yards and six touchdowns while completing 52 percent of his attempts. He's totaled 425 passing yards and four touchdowns over the last two games combined.

Defensively, sophomore Matthew Beisswenger leads the secondary with 44 tackles and three interceptions. He is coming off a performance against the Dutch where he recorded a pair of pick-sixes and now has three of the team's six INT's this season. Following that effort against Central, Beisswenger earned his first career A-R-C Defensive Performer of the Week honor. Senior safety, Trey Ortman, leads the way overall with 66 total tackles while sophomore linebacker, Troy Reynolds, has 51. Sophomore defensive lineman, Keaton Bindel, is third with 45 tackles while leading the way with 5.5 for a loss and three sacks. As a team, the Beavers are allowing 43.9 points per game and 477.6 yards of total offense.
