The Kohawks look to bounce back on Saturday after seeing their upset bid at No. 3 Wartburg College come up just short while suffering their first loss of the year with the 27-21 setback. The 27 points allowed were a season-high for the Kohawks, who still rank second in the league only behind the Knights in scoring defense at 12.8ppg.
It's been a balanced attack for the Kohawks most of the season to this point, as the team ranks third in the A-R-C overall in rushing and second in passing. On the other side of the ball, Coe sits second in the league, defensively, in stopping the run and tops among all A-R-C foes in defending the pass.
On the ground, sophomore Jacob Brecht is averaging a team-high 60 yards per game, to lead a trio of players who have carried the ball at least 35 times for the team this season. Senior Ray Seidel is leading the way with his 52 rushing attempts on the year while averaging 37.0 yards per game. Junior Trenton Barnes has carried the rock 37 times and totaled 146 net yards. All three players have scored two rushing touchdowns apiece.
Through the air, senior signal caller Carter Maske has completed 83-of-137 pass attempts for the year, totaling nearly 1,200 yards and 12 touchdowns. He's currently ranked fourth among A-R-C quarterbacks, averaging just under 230.0 yards passing per contest. He's distributed the ball well, completing passes this season to 13 different receivers. Sophomore Zamari Bruce is leading the way by hauling in 32 catches for 597 yards and five touchdowns. His total yards ranks second in the conference and eighth in all of Division III. Dominic Shepardson is right behind with 31 receptions for 431 yards and a team-high six receiving touchdowns.
Ben Adelsberger has been a leader of the defensive unit with a team-high 32 tackles, including six for a loss, while also forcing one fumble. Sam Shaw and Jay Oostendorp follow with 23 and 22 tackles, respectively, with Shaw also posting a pair of pass breakups. Fifth-year Bridger Aucutt has led the defensive backs with six pass breakups, two fumble recoveries and 20 total tackles.
