PELLA, Iowa (Oct. 4, 2023) - The Buena Vista men's soccer team went back on the road Wednesday afternoon to continue its American Rivers Conference schedule at Central College, but it was the Dutch pulling away in the second half by scoring three times en route to a 4-0 victory.
Nolan Piedimonte put the Dutch on the board early in the contest with his fourth goal of the year during the 11' mark. That's how things stood until 15 minutes had gone by in the second half when Piedimonte found Coleman Manuel to make it 2-0.
BVU was held to only two second half shot attempts while Central turned in 12 after posting seven in the first half. The Dutch added a pair of goals over the final 10 minutes of the game to pull away and improve to 5-4-2 (1-2-0 A-R-C).
Benjamin Heinze and
Caleb Swanson each turned in a shot-on-goal for Buena Vista (1-8-2, 0-3 A-R-C).
Cody Fuller got the start in-goal and allowed three goals and made five saves over 79 minutes of play.
Tyler Pennington played the final 10 minutes for the Beavers and was charged for allowing the final goal inside the final minute despite making three saves.
Carter Newhouse had a team-high four shots for Central while Piedimonte tallied two shots, one goal and one assist.
Buena Vista returns home on Saturday, Oct. 7, to host Simpson College inside of J. Leslie Rollins Stadium at 3:30 p.m.
