STORM LAKE, Iowa (Oct. 21, 2023) - The Buena Vista women's soccer team was hosting the University of Dubuque for Senior Day on Saturday afternoon, but it was the Spartans spoiling the home finale for the Beavers this season by pulling away in the second half for a 7-0 victory.

The Spartans put the pressure on the Beaver defensive from the opening minutes and eventually broke through midway through the period with a pair of goals over a two-minute span to lead 2-0 at the break. 

Dubuque would pull away from BVU in the second half, going up 3-0 just minutes into the period before adding a pair of goals midway through and two more in the final 15 minutes.

The Spartans registered 40 shots in the contest while Chloe Lippert had Buena Vista's lone shot attempt.

Trisha Westphal got the start in-goal and played the first 60 minutes and posted 11 saves before leaving due to an injury. Maddy Bigalke took over the duties for the remainder of the match, allowing three goals and posting two saves.

Buena Vista is now 3-12 overall (0-7 A-R-C) and will wrap up its season on Tuesday, Oct. 24, at Wartburg College. Match time is set for 7:30 p.m.
