LINCOLN, Neb. (Oct. 18, 2023) - Nebraska Wesleyan scored three goals over a seven-minute span covering the end of the first half to the start of the second half, and the Prairie Wolves would go on to hold off the Beavers, 3-0.
The Beavers put up a strong fight defensively the entire match, despite being out-shot, 36-4, in the contest. NWU broke the scoreless contest late in the 42nd minute to take a 1-0 lead into the half. The lead doubled just five minutes into the second half and then the Prairie Wolves capped the scoring less than one minute later.
Kaycie King had two of the four shots for the Beavers to help lead the way, including one on-goal.
Hannah Whitver turned in the team's second shot on-goal on her only attempt of the night.
Trisha Westphal went all 90 minutes in-goal and made 12 saves.
Amanda Olivia finished with a goal and an assist for NWU (2-11-2, 1-2 A-R-C). Averie Hike, who scored the team's first goal, finished with seven total shots with five coming on-goal.
Buena Vista drops to 3-11 overall (0-6 A-R-C) and will host the University of Dubuque for Senior Day on Saturday, Oct. 21 at 1 p.m.
