GRINNELL, Iowa (Oct. 15, 2023) - The Buena Vista women's soccer team played its final non-conference match of the year on Sunday afternoon at Grinnell College, but the Beavers would be dealt a tough 7-0 setback at the hands of the Pioneers.
Grinnell posted 39 shots in the contest while BVU was held to only one shot in each half. The Beavers held tough defensively throughout the first half, despite the 18 shots by the Pioneers, before Grinnell broke a scoreless match with an own goal during the 30th minute and led 1-0 at the break.
Ramona Delbourne gave the Pioneers (6-3-3) a 2-0 lead 10 minutes into the second half before they went on to score three times over the next nine minutes to pull away.
Chloe Lippert and
Madyline Taylor turned in one shot apiece for Buena Vista while
Trisha Westphal made 11 stops in-goal.
The Beavers are now 3-10 overall and travel to Nebraska Wesleyan on Oct. 18 for a 5 p.m. match against the Prairie Wolves.
