Preview: Mens Basketball to play at Nebraska Wesleyan and Luther

Storm Lake, Iowa (January 24, 2023) The Buena Vista Men's basketball team hits the road this weekend for a mid-week matchup against the Prairie Wolves of Nebraska
Wesleyan and a Saturday matchup against the Norse of Luther.

About Buena Vista
The Beavers continued their struggles as they dropped a home matchup to Loras College this past weekend. They look to get back on track with their first game this Wednesday at Nebraska Wesleyan and their Saturday contest at Luther College. The Beavers come into the matchups with the second lowest scoring offense in conference play averaging 67 points per game. Defensively they are allowing A-R-C opponents to score 77 points per game on average which is the most in the conference. Juniors Zane Neubaum and Reed Gunner averaging 15.3 and 10 points per game respectively in conference play and have been the consistent scorers for the Beavers. Junior, Michael Santich leads the team in assist averaging 2.6 assists per game in conference play. Junior, Reed Gunner has been active on the glass all year and it shows as he is leading the beavers in rebounding averaging 5.4 rebounds per game in conference play. The Beavers who hit the road this week look to bounce back and get back on track this Wednesday and Saturday.

The Prairie Wolves are coming off a road loss this past weekend at Luther College, however they have still won four of their last five conference games. The Prairie Wolves are averaging 70.8 points per game on the season and defensively are only giving up on average 67.1 points per game which is ranked second in the A-R-C. Their offensive attack is led by Peter Lash who is averaging 21.7 points per game and 8.7 rebounds per game in conference play. Senior Andrew Walker is leading the team in assists, averaging 3.1 assists in conference play. The Prairie Wolves will look to keep their recent overall success going in this Wednesday's matchup against the Beavers.

The Norse who picked up a home victory this last Saturday against Nebraska Wesleyan look to add another victory to the win column this Saturday against the Beavers. Despite the victory, the Norse have dropped four of their last five conference games. Offensively the team ranks last in the A-R-C averaging only 64.2 points per game. Defensively the team is holding opponents on average to 69.3 points per game which ranks in the top five in the A-R-C. Leading the offensive attack for the Norse is junior Ben Gill who is averaging 10.9 points per game in conference play. On the season, junior Mikkel Schutte is averaging 5.3 rebounds per game and junior Andrew Lazinbat is averaging 2.6 assist per game.
