CRETE, Neb. (Jan. 15) - The Buena Vista women's indoor track & field team began its 2023 indoor season on Saturday at the Scott Nisley Memorial Invite, hosted by Doane University, and brought home a handful of top finishes, led by senior
Katara Jondle's thrilling victory in the 400m dash.
Jondle reached the finish line in 1:01.49 while holding off Chantaya Griffin of St. Mary's (Neb.) by .39 of a second and Tatiana Smith of Benedictine by .47 of a second.
Jessica Sump placed 2nd in the 60m hurdles with a time of 9.57 after qualifying sixth into the finals of the race.
Reigning All-American
Becca Simpson captured a pair of top-3 finishes to get her season underway, taking second in the weight throw (16.66m) and third in the shot put (13.45m).
The Beavers will compete again on Jan. 20 at the Prairie Wolf Invitational in Lincoln, Neb.
