CRETE, Neb. (Jan. 15, 2023) - The Buena Vista men's indoor track & field team began its 2023 season on Saturday at the Scott Nisley Memorial Track & Field Classic, hosted by Doane University.
Kyle Miller highlighted the team by winning the 800m run.
BVU had three top-finishes on the day, led by Miller's victory in the mid-distance race. He crossed the finish line in 1:59.29 and won the race by nearly two full seconds. Teammate
Colin Imhoff was just five seconds behind and took sixth in 2:04.27.
Ashton Bates came in 8th for the men's 200-meter dash (23.61) and finished 6th with a time of 7.07 in the 60-meter finals. For the open 400-meter dash,
Cyril Huber finished in 2nd place with a time of 51.23. With a 4th place finish in the 60-meter hurdles, Zachary Huffman scored with a time of 8.88.
Making his collegiate debut, Easton Hayes placed ninth in the long jump at 20' 2.25" (6.15m) with
Isaiah Thomas taking 11th at 19' 9.75".
The Beavers will compete again on Jan. 20 at the Prairie Wolf Invitational in Lincoln, Neb.
