Herrera added three TD's through the air and was not intercepted.Â
About Dubuque - The Spartans are looking to bounce back from a tough 25-0 home loss last week against Wartburg College which gives the team its third loss of the year to a nationally-ranked opponent. It was held to just 33 yards rushing by the Knights which is the second time this season it has been held below the century mark. The team has used a pair of quarterbacks on the year which have combined to pass for over 1,000 yards and five scores. Ben Gultig has played in three of the four games and leads the way with over 650 yards and all five TD's. Through two games in conference play, the Spartans rank fourth in the league, allowing an average of 126.5 yards. The offense is also third in the league in passing through the first two weeks, and its four passing scores are tied for second-most by an A-R-C team thus far.
About Buena Vista: The Beavers look to move back above .500 for the first time this season as it plays their Homecoming game against the Spartans. BVU is 0-2 at home this season with losses to both Gustavus Adolphus and Coe, respectively. The defense came to play the last time BVU was on its home turf against the Kohawks, losing out on a defensive battle, 14-3. Through two conference ouings, the Beavers rank right in the middle of the pack in passing offense and are third in rushing offense. The team has given good protection by allowing just two sacks during conference play which is the second-fewest by any team. Zach Herrera is fourth in the conference in passing yards per outing with Alaniz leading the A-R-C in rushing.Â
UP NEXTÂ - Buena Vista is back on the road nex week and travels to Loras College for a 1:00 p.m. kickoff with the Duhawks.
