INDIANOLA, Iowa (Sept. 28, 2022) - The Buena Vista volleyball team took on American Rivers Conference foe Simpson College tonight in a match that was played at Indianola High School and the Storm would go on to close things out in four sets over the Beavers by scores of 25-18, 16-25, 25-21, 25-17.

Rachel Brockney turned in 11 kills, 13 digs and three ace serves to help lead the charge for the Beavers with
Hannah Smith adding nine kills and a pair of blocks.
Taylor Wedemeyer dished out 29 assists to go along with a match-high six ace serves. BVU turned in an overall attack percentage of .158 despite just 17 attack errors.
BVU jumped out to a 10-2 lead in the opening set and continued to lead 14-8 before Simpson took off on a 9-1 surge to build a 17-15 advantage. After the Beavers pulled back even at 17-17 following a service error and attack error, Simpson rolled off four straight points and never looked back.
The Beavers again jumped out to a big lead in the second set by scoring the first nine points and held on to win by that same margin. BVU again jumped in front 8-3 to begin the third set and extended the margin to 14-7, but Simpson caught fire with three kills from Lexie Parks which aided a 6-0 run and brought the Storm back within a point at 14-13. After a kill from Brockney made it a two-point cushion for the Beavers, Simspon ran off three straight points to take a 16-15 lead. BVU tied it back up at 16-16 only to see the Storm use a 4-0 run and hold off BVU 25-21.
The Storm were tough at the net throughout, posting an overall attack percentage of .254. They broke a 10-10 tie in the fourth set by scoring six of the next seven points to build a 16-11 lead before wrapping things up by scoring five of the final six.
Jessica Jacobs led all players with 21 kills to lead the Storm (8-7, 2-1 A-R-C) with Parks trailing right behind with 13.
Buena Vista is now 6-9 overall on the year (1-2 A-R-C). The Beavers play at UW-La Crosse on Saturday, October 1, at 5:00 p.m.
