La Crosse, Wis. (Oct. 1, 2022) - The Buena Vista volleyball team stepped out of conference play on Saturday to travel to UW-La Crosse for a non-conference contest against the Eagles, but the Beavers would come up short in a 3-0 loss.
BVU was held to eight kills in the opening set while UW-La Crosse had 20, and the Eagles rolled to 25-16 victory. Things were much tighter in the second and third, but the Eagles were able to hold on in the end of both frames for 25-22 and 25-21 victories, respectively.
Courtney Johnson led BVU with 11 kills while
Skylar Cole and
Rachel Brockney followed with seven apiece. Brockney also chipped in with 12 digs and one block while Cole also added one block.
Skylar Needham dished out 28 assists and had two ace serves.
The Eagles (8-9) finished with 53 kills in the match while BVU talld 34.
Buena Vista is now 6-10 on the year. The team travels to Morningside University for a scrimmage on Monday evening before resuming American Rivers Conference play on Friday night by hosting Loras College at 6:00 p.m.
