Women's Soccer Earns Fourth Victory of the Year

Box Score STORM LAKE, Iowa (Sept. 27, 2022) - The Buena Vista University women's soccer team wrapped up its non-conference schedule on Tuesday night by hosting Faith Baptist Bible College. Senior Brenda Nelson scored her first career goal in the first half for the Beavers, and that was the game-winner in a 1-0 BVU victory.

Nelson gained control of a lose ball and lined it right at the goal where it was deflected in off the Eagles goalkeeper who was reaching up to knock it away just out in front of the net.

Both teams were nearly even in total shots and shots-on-goal during the contest. The Beavers closed wih 15 while the Eagles had 12. Chloe Lippert led Buena Vista with five total shots, including three on-goal.

The win by BVU gives the program its highest single-season win total since setting a school record with 10 victories back in 2012. Sophomore Trisha Westphal got the start and went the distance in-goal for the Beavers and earned her first career victory. She finished with eight total saves.

Buena Vista, now 4-5 overall, will be back in American Rivers Conference action on Saturday, October 1, when the team heads to Luther College for a 1:00 p.m. match against the Norse.
