ST. PAUL, Minn. (Sept. 23, 2022) - The Buena Vista volleyball team put its three-match win streak on the line at St. Catherine's on Friday night, but after taking the opening set, the Beavers came up short in a second-set thriller and would go on to lose the match 3-1.

Junior Rachel Brockney led the way with 13 kills on 50 attempts and finished with a .090 attack percentage. She added nine digs and two block assists. Taylor Wedemeyer had seven kills, 12 digs and 24 assists while junior Skylar Cole added six kills and three block assists. As a team, the Beavers had an attack percentage of .116.

St. Catherine's (10-3) were tough at the net with 14 total blocks, 49 kills and a .166 attack percentage. Maggie Rosen led all players with 14 kills with Lexie Petrick right behind with 10.

The Beavers started strong with just one attack error in the opening set and forced nine by St. Catherine's en route to a 25-17 victory. In the second set, BVU had 10 attack errors and dropped a 27-25 thriller. The Beavers got out to a 5-1 lead in the third but would drop the set 25-16. St. Catherine's cruised to a 25-13 win in the fourth set to secure the win.

Buena Vista is now 6-8 overall and has the weekend off before returning to action on Wednesday, September 28, at Simpson College.
